About

Having worked over 23 years in the creative industry as a graphic designer/illustrator Helen now consults between Graphic Design, Illustration and Fine Art.

Combining Art & Design

Helen created The Horse Collective. A series of paintings inspired by George Stubbs’ Whistlejacket, of different breeds of single horses against various coloured backgrounds. The focus is purely on the power and beauty of the horse.

Now she is currently working on
The Brand Collective, creating fine art paintings of logos.
Reflecting back to her love of the power of a brand.

Helen’s Story

As far as Helen can remember, art was always her greatest passion. As a child inspired by Tony Hart, Norman Thelwells’ Penelope & Kipper, Disney’s original animations (in particular 101 Dalmatians and Sleeping Beauty) and PInk Panthers DePatie–Frelengs’ short animations. As an adult her inspirations are the great George Stubbs and Anthony van Dyck.

When growing up she would draw everything she dreamed of.
Able to create anything using her pencil she would draw a world which she didn’t have access to. There were no limitations. Having always dreamed of owning a horse but unable to afford one she used her pencil to create a world of horses.

Everything was horses!

With having studied Art & Design and working in Design her whole career, this brings together a composition understanding and greater awareness of fashions, styles and the effect of brand/media/politics through the history of art.

Helen has exhibited in various exhibitions.

Mission

Helen wanted to create a series of paintings of different breeds of single horses against various coloured backgrounds. The focus being purely on the power and beauty of the horse. Inspired by George Stubbs’ Whistlejacket, Helen intended to recreate a similar feeling with a  collection highlighting the horse alone.
